On the MS Kong Harald!

Tuesday, June 30, 2015

Since I have five days to do and so little time, I will do primarily a photo gallery.  We walked to Bryggen (for exercise!).  There is a plan for us to charge on a 'cruise card' so we have to make only one credit card fee for all the extras we buy. However, we would need NOK for things we would purchase off the ship; so I stopped by the ATM.  On the way back to the hotel, I bought a skillingsbolle for us.  It is a cinnamon bun famous in Bergen and after 25 times in Bergen, this is the first one I bought.  It was quite good.  We finished packing, took a taxi to the Hurtigruten terminal, checked in, and went onto the ship.  The rest of the details are under the photos.

Mother outside the Martha-Lounge where we eat our meals.  We arrived on the ship at 4:00 pm.   The ship  is really a 'floating hotel' - our room wasn't ready yet so we explored the ship to find where everything was located.
There are anti-bacterial foam dispensers everywhere!  Before eating, the person in charge said there
were two requirements:  check in to all meals with our identity card electronically and wash our hands!

Our luggage was waiting for us after our meal at our cabin.

Our room is quite spacious - quite a bit larger than other cabins since it is a 'handicap equipped'
room.  We each have a single bed, there is a desk area and generous closets, which you can see, and
a small table and another chair by Mother's bed, which you can't see.  The bathroom is to the left.

A great bathroom equipped with all the necessities for Mother.
The boat sailed promptly at 8:00 pm.  This is my favorite view of Bergen with a bit of Bryggen in the foreground.  You can see the Floyen Restaurant at the top center.

Various scenes leaving Bergen.  We are on our way!
